Terminal blocks and terminal strips are used to fasten or terminate wires and are often used to connect wiring to a ground or to connect electrical switches and outlets to the mains supply. They often contain two long aluminum or copper strips that are designed to connect different components. Terminal blocks are commonly mounted on a panel or some form of DIN rail, although some are manufactured for mounting on printed circuit boards PCBs. Terminal blocks are modular, insulated devices that are manufactured to accept a range of wire or conductor size. Terminal block wiring is achieved using screw connections, spring clamps, Insulation displacement connections IDCs , or tab connections, also known as blade or spade terminals.
